COMMUNITY AUDITIONS
CALLIOPE SHORTS: IN the KITCHEN!
Open auditions for Calliope Shorts: In the Kitchen will be held Tuesday, June 18th from 5:30-7:00p the Jackson County Public Library Community Room. All ages and experience levels are warmly welcome.
These auditions will be used to cast Calliope Shorts: In the Kitchen, our newest commissioned theatrical shorts written by local artists and professionals from around the country. All rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and performances will take place in between August 10-18. (Yes, you read that right!)
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR AN AUDITION TIME?
After reading through the audition information here, scroll down to the “Reserve My Audition Time” buttons. Select which audition applies to you: Adult or Youth.
Once you click the button and reserve your time slot, you will receive a confirmation email shortly after. The confirmation email will include a link to an online audition form to fill out prior to the audition, so please make sure the email address you provide is correct!
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION?
All Performers are asked to prepare 1 (ONE) memorized 1-2 minute monologue from a play of your choosing.
Young performers age 10 or under may read their chosen monologue if they would like.
You may also ELECT to prepare one of the following:
A second 1-2 minute piece if you’d like to show contrast.
If you play an instrument or sing, you are also invited to play/sing a 30-60 second song cut for your second piece. Please note, there will not be an accompanist available.
NOTE: Your total audition package should not exceed 4 minutes.
Please arrive approximately 10 minutes prior to your audition slot and enter the glass atrium where a Calliope staff member will check you in.
A detailed casting breakdown can be found here.
Please note: Although not many of this year’s Shorts were written for youth performers, we are exploring the possibility of creating a Youth Acting Company depending on how many young performers we have audition. This Youth Acting Company will rehearse and perform additional new content to accompany the other Shorts.
