New Workshop Series for Ages 8-12

This multi-week Youth Theatre Workshop series offers students an engaging experience in theatre production in a supportive, educational environment. Participants will build confidence and community as they explore both the creative and performance sides of production—learning about scenic, costume, and prop design while also developing foundational acting skills and character work. Students will even have the opportunity to create original design elements that may be incorporated into the final performance. The workshop culminates in a rehearsal process and presentation of The Emerald Heist, a 15-minute play that showcases their growth, creativity, and collaboration. Designed to provide a meaningful artistic outlet for youth in our community, this program invites young artists of all experience levels to imagine boldly, learn new skills, and shine. Class will take place at Calliope Stage at 513 Mill St in Sylva!

Meet the instructor…

Naomi is a lover of the arts, studying Stage and Screen at Western Carolina University. She discovered her passion for theatre in 2020 at HART Theatre and has been enamored with it ever since. Naomi was introduced to puppetry work at a young age and grew up attending puppetry workshops and performing at her church. She recently had the opportunity to operate as the Shadow Puppeteer in WCU's production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and her love of puppetry was rekindled. Outside of puppetry, Naomi works in stage management, lighting design, and performance.
